| Caruso (Casaretto/Foxtrott) is the sire of Rohsina's 2005 Premium GOV filly, Capella. Caruso was born in 1998 in Telgte, (Westfalia) and was approved by the German Westfalian Verband in 2000. He is black and stands 16.3 HH and was in training with Nicole Uphoff in Germany prior to completing his 100-day testing in Ohio in August 2002. Caruso has had an impressive in-hand and under saddle career since his importation. In 2002, Caruso was Stallion Champion as well as Mature Horse and Reserve Grand Champion at the two USDF breed shows he competed in, with scores up to 82%. Caruso has shown successfully in USDF dressage competitions through 2nd level and will be shown at 4th level in 2006. Caruso's pedigree is an interesting combination of Holstein, Selle Francais and Westfalian bloodlines. His grandsire Calypso I, full brother to Calypso II, has more than 15 approved sons and over a 120 offspring registered as sporthorses, both in dressage and jumping. Calypso I is regarded as one of the top sires in Holstein who, as almost no other in that region, produces horses that are successful both in dressage and jumping. Almost all of the foals from Caruso's first three foal crops born in 2003-2005 have been rated premium (including Capella!) out of a wide variety of mares.
